3.b) welcomes intention of UN to establish UN mission in East Timor which will make available a number of civilian police officers to act as advisers to the Indonesian police in the discharge of their duties in East Timor and, at the time o the conulstation, to supervise the escort of ballot papers and boxed to and from the polling sites.

3. resolution welcomes the intention of the SG to esatblihs a UN presence in E Timor to conduct the popular consultation. 8. the SG to keep the UNSC closely informed of the situation in E Timor on the implementation of this resolution and the Agreements, making detailed recommendations to the Council on the mandate, size and structure of the UN misions, and to report to the Council every 14 days thereafter. 10. the SG to inform the Council of whether the necessary conditions exist for the peaceful implementation of the consultation process.

7. welcomes the establishmen of a trust fund to enable member states to make voluntary contributions to assist in the financing of the UN presence in East Timor, and urges all member states who are in a position to contribute to do so without delay.
