Summary :

Legislative act of the State of Assam. Provided that the BAC would have maximum autonomy within the framework of the Constitution and outlined requirements for membership of General and Executive Council. Also gave details of election and administrative procedures and the powers and functions of both Councils.

Provided that the BAC would have maximum autonomy within the framework of the Constitution. Chapter 1.4. reserved seats in BAC for Schedule Tribes. Chapter 4.51. all rights and interests of the non-tribal citizens on the date of the constituion of the BAC and the Council Area shall be protected in matters pertaining to land and their language. Chapter 4.54. where BAC law's conflict with state of Assam law, the latter prevails. Ch. 4.56. Govt of Assam will consult the BAC before making any law that affects religious or social practice of the Bodo, Bodo customary laws and procedures, and owevership and transfer of land within the Council area. 57. General Council to reserve jobs for members of Schedule Tribes. 63. General Council may make policy on use of Bodo language as medium of communication, within Assam constitutional framework. 65. Special Courts to be established to try cases between members of Scheduled Tribes.
